DULUTH, Minn. - The Northern Michigan University men's and women's nordic ski team traveled to Duluth, Minnesota to compete in the 2023 Grand Avenue Nordic CCSA Invite. The 'Cats were able to have success across the board, highlighted by Kristofer Karsrud earning gold in the Classic Mass Start 20K.

Day One
5KM Women
The women posted strong finishes with two finishing on the podium and four total athletes in the top 10.
Merle Richter earned silver with a time of 15:07.9, and Katarina Hyncicova earned bronze with a time of 15:12.6.
Lauren McCollor and
Kolibri Drobish were neck and neck finishing ninth and tenth with times of 15:45.2 and 15:45.4, respectively.
Pearl Harvey,
Gretchen Haggenmiller,
Ella Niznik, and
Molly Miller all finished in the top 20.
10KM Men
Three men posted top-10 finishes, led by
Kristoffer Karsrud placing sixth with a time of 27:04.2.
Jonathan Clarke finished eighth with a time of 27:11.9, and
Cooper Lennox rounded out the top 10 with a finish time of 27:22.9.
Hendrik Peterson placed 24th.
Day Two
Classic Mass Start 20K Men
Kristofer Karsrud came home with yet another first-place finish under his belt, taking home gold in the men's 20K after posting a time of 59:57.8, being the only racer to finish the race under an hour.
Jonathan Clarke was the last Wildcat in the top 10, finishing ninth with a time of 1:00:47.2.
Hendrik Peterson finished in the 22 spot, and
Cooper Lennox was right behind at 23.
Classic Mass Start 20K Women
Three women placed in the top 10, including a third-place finish from
Katerina Hyncicova, who crossed the line at 1:10:23.9.
Kolibri Drobish and
Merle Richter were right behind, finishing fourth and fifth with times of 1:10:48.9 and 1:11:19.5, respectively.
Lily Brown,
Pearl Harvey,
Lauren McCollor,
Gretchen Haggenmiller, and
Ella Niznik all finished in the top 20.
