Volleyball Defeats McKendree For Second Win of Midwest Region Crossover

Aurora, Ill.  --  Northern Michigan University's volleyball team defeated McKendree University 3-1 for their second victory of the Midwest Region Crossover.

After dropping the first set 25-23, NMU responded with a 25-22 second set victory.  They then followed it with a 26-24 victory in the third set and won the match after a 25-19 victory in set four.

Pacing the Wildcats was freshman Leticia Antunes (Florianopolis, Brazil/Colegio Ofelia Fonseca), who finished with 14 kills and 15 digs for her fifth double-double in the last six matches. 

Senior Madison Whitehead (Altoona, Mich.) also posted 14 kills and added eight block assists.

Junior Autumn Monsma (Grand Haven, Mich.) aided the offensive attack with 11 kills.  Senior Jami Hogeboom (Grand Haven, Mich.) finished with 44 assists and 11 digs. 

Junior Rachel Braunschweig (Alamo, Calif./San Ramon Valley/Cape Fear CC) led the team with 18 digs and tied with sophomore Gabriela Martinez (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista/Puerto Rico, Río Piedras) with two aces.

Redshirt sophomore Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wisc./De Pere) finished the match with a team-best 10 block assists and added a solo block to her day. 

With the win, NMU improves to 14-6 while McKendree fell to 15-5 on the season.  The Wildcats will now return to Vandament Arena to take on Purdue University-Northwest Friday.
