ALLENDALE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University posted six NCAA Provisional marks and set one school record to tie their best-ever finish at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, taking third place.
| FIELD ATHLETE OF THE MEET
For the second time this year, senior Michelle Juergen (Gau-Odernheim, Germany) was named the Field Athlete of the Meet. She also received the award at the Indoor Championships.
On Thursday, she jumped 18 feet 2.25 inches in the long jump for third place. Juergen continued her success Friday as she went on take second in the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet, 10 inches and was third in the high jump as well, clearing 5'6.5.
| WINNING THE 200
Sophomore Izabelle Peterson (Marquette, Mich.) captured her second GLIAC victory this year by winning the 200-Meter Dash in 24.17. She previously won the same event at the GLIAC Indoor Championships. Peterson then went on to take second place in the 100-Meter Dash in a time of 11.85.
Both times gave her NCAA Provisionals.
| A SCHOOL RECORD
Senior Shayla Huebner (Marquette, Mich.) finished second in the 800-Meter Run with a new school record time of 2:08.97 and an NCAA Provisional.
| STARTING THE RIGHT WAY
The meet started with sophomore Nina Augsten (Koenigsbronn, Germany) winning the Heptathlon, consisting of seven events. Augsten won 100-Meter Hurdles, Long Jump and Javelin throw and was second in the 200-Meter Dash and the 800 Meter Run.
Teammate freshman Kelsie Sibbald (Barbeau, Mich.) won the Heptathlon's 800-Meter Run.
Thursday night also featured the finals of the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase, which junior Hanna Torvi (St. Paul, Minn.) finished in 11:06.80 to claim sixth place.
| JUMPING HURDLES
Augsten also competed in the 100-Meter Hurdles, coming away with a fifth place finish in a time of 14.58.
The Wildcats saw two earn points in the 400-Meter Hurdles. In fourth was junior Megan Martin (Hillsdale, Mich.) in a time of 1:04.25. Senior Lynsey Collins (Escanaba, Mich.) posted a time of 1:05.64 for sixth.
| MORE RUNNING
Taking eighth in the 5,000-Meter Run was junior Katelyn Smith (Gaylord, Mich.), crossing the line at 18:07.75.
| IN IT TOGETHER
Friday started with the 4x100 Meter Relay clocking in at 46.90 to capture second place. The team consisted of Peterson, junior Sydney McPeters (Sugarland, Texas), senior Jenna Long (Suamico, Wis.) and Lauren Alarie (Highland, Mich.).
The team of McPeters, Huebner, Dutcher and Du Bois also captured second place in the 4x400 Meter Relay with an NCAA Provisional time, of coming in at 3:47.41.
| TEAM RESULTS
The Wildcats finished third overall out of the 11-team field with 118 points. NMU was one of just three teams to reach 100 total points, beating Saginaw Valley State University, 93 points and fourth place, Wayne State University, fifth place with 45 points and sixth place, Michigan Technological University who finished with 42 points.

The team continues action next weekend with Last Chance Meets Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Those student-athletes who qualified will compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships starting Thursday, May 23.
