ALLENDALE, Mich. — Three Wildcats broke their own school records to help the track & field team place sixth in a 31-team field at The Big Meet, held Friday and Saturday at the Grand Valley State-Laker Turf Building.
Jasmine Williams finished third in the weight throw with a school-record distance of 61-2.25. Shayla Huebner ran Northern Michigan's fastest time in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 57.21 to place third.
Kameron Burmeister set the school record in the 5,000-meter run, clocking in at 17:09.43 to take fifth in a 120-athlete field. She went on to finish second in the 3,000-meter run, posting a time of 10:01.94.
"I'm very happy with how the team performed this weekend," said head coach Jenny Ryan. "We had a great meet and are looking forward to the GLIAC Indoor Championships in two weeks."
Northern Michigan finished sixth with 33 points. Among Division II schools, the Wildcats were fourth.
Northern Michigan next competes at the GLIAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 25-26.
