ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University track and field team traveled to Grand Valley State for their final meet before the NCAA Championships. The Wildcats had five competitors compete in a total of five events with four top-three over the course of the two day meet.
In the Second to Last Chance Meet Friday, May 8th, sophomore Avadon James competed in the 100 meter dash. James opened with a 12.05 in the preliminaries before finishing third in the finals clocking in at 12.08.
James then competed in the 100 meter dash with senior Brittni Wirtz during the Last Chance Meet Saturday, May 9th. James finished with another third place finish at 12.19 with Wirtz right behind her at 12.47 for a fifth place finish.
James took home a second place finish with a 25.11 in the 200 meter dash to round out her weekend.
In field events, freshman Ine Mylle finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 25.11 meters, while freshman Samanthia Johnson and sophomore Jasmine Williams finished sixth and 12th in the discus throw, respectively. Johnson had a toss of 46.05 meters with Williams finishing wih a 42.55 meter throw.
Northern Michigan takes a weekend off before competing at the NCAA Championships May 21-23 in Allendale, Mich.
