Wildcats Compete at Hillsdale Last Chance Classic

HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan track and field team traveled to the Hillsdale Last Chance Classic in their final weekend of action before the NCAA Championships May 21-23.

Freshman Ine Mylle travelled to compete in the triple jump where she finished in fourth place with a final jump of 11.5 meters.

Sophomores Samanthia Johnson and Jasmine Williams each competed in a field event as well in the discus throw.  Johnson had a final throw of 45.27 meters, while Williams threw the discus 43.84 meters.

The Wildcats then had a couple of sprinters compete in the 100 meter dash.  Senior Britni Wirtz ran a 12.20 in the preliminaries before a 12.39 in the finals for a fourth place finish.  Junior Avadon James improved on her 11.99 seed with an 11.95 preliminaries followed by a 12.11 in the finals putting her in third place for the event.  James also competed in the 200 meter dash running a 25.04.

Northern Michigan next travels to Allendale, Mich. for the Grand Valley Second to Last Chance and Last Chance Meets this weekend May 8-9.
