NMU Completes First Day At GLIAC Outdoors

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University track & field team began action at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships Thursday advancing two individuals and a relay team to final events.

"We had a strong first day of competition with a few athletes qualified for finals on the second day," said NMU head coach Jenny Ryan. "We still have scoring opportunities in the upcoming field events along with some of the running events."

Wildcat senior Brittni Wirtz ran the fourth-fastest qualifying time of advance to the finals of the 100 meter dash clocking a 12.02.

NMU junior Avadon James ran the third-fastest qualifying time in the 200 meter dash to qualify for the finals with a time of 25.16.

The Wildcats 4x100 relay team also advanced to the finals of the event, running the seventh-fastest time at 48.80.

The Wildcats continue action at the GLIAC Championships on Friday.
