NMU's Mylle Wins Triple Jump As 'Cats Open Action At Al Owens

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University track & field team began action on Friday at the Al Owens Classic. After three events, NMU sits in second out of 11 teams.

Wildcat freshman Ine Mylle picked up a win in the triple jump with a distance of 11.54m while senior Jasmine King placed fifth with a jump of 10.66m.

NMU sophomore Jasmine Williams placed seventh in the hammer throw with a hurl of 46.91m. Freshman Samanthia Johnson took 15th with a throw of 41.86m. Both Williams and Johnson posted personal records in the event.

"We had a good start to the first day of the Al Owens Classic today," said NMU head coach Jenny Ryan. "Our triple jumpers both had good performances and our throwers continue to improve upon their best marks each week. All their hard work continues to show in their results."

The Wildcats continue action at the Al Owens on Saturday.
