  • Celaya Finishes Seventh in 3K Steeplechase

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Senior Mallory Celaya, of the Northern Michigan University track and field team, placed seventh in the 3-kilometer steeplechase with a time of 11:14.43 at the Dr. Keeler Track & Field Meet on the campus of North Central College on Friday (May 10). Celaya’s time was an NCAA provisional qualifying time and personal best. She is currently ranked 42nd in the nation in the event.

    ASHLAND, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University track and field team sits in 13th place after day two at the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday (May 2). Ashland is hosting this year’s championship at Dwight Schar Athletic Complex. The Wildcats broke one school record and had four athletes score points in the first two days.
  • Al Owens Classic Moved Indoors

    ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University outdoor track and field team turned back into the indoor team on Saturday (April 20) as the Wildcats competed at the Al Owens Classic on the campus of Grand Valley State University. The meet was moved indoors in the morning after freezing rain left a layer of ice on the outdoor track overnight.

    HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University track and field team had a fourth place finish at the Hillsdale Invitational on Saturday (April 13). The Wildcats had two winners on the day and tallied 69.5 team points, trailing Grand Valley State (184.5), Hillsdale (157) and Lewis (124).

    OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The Northern Michigan University outdoor track and field team opened the season with a third place finish at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Open on Saturday (April 6). The Wildcats scored 106 team points and trailed Winona State University (221) and the host Titans (192).

    ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University indoor track and field team finished tied for 10th at the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday (Feb. 24) from the Kelly Family Sports Center at Grand Valley State University. The Wildcats totaled 13 points on the weekend and tied with Lake Erie College. NMU finished ahead of Wayne State and Malone.

Junior Mallory Celaya and senior Brooke Granquist each scored a point for the Wildcats.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University indoor track and field team hosted its lone home meet of the season on Saturday (Feb. 16) from the Superior Dome. NMU competed against Michigan Technological University, Lake Superior State University and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The Wildcats placed in the top three in 11-of-14 events on the afternoon.

    STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Northern Michigan University indoor track and field team competed at the Pointer Invitational on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Points on Saturday (Feb. 2). The Wildcats had four first place finishes. Sophomore Brittni Wirtz won the 60-meter dash in 7.88 seconds and was fourth in the 200m dash.

Catherine Angeli and Bailey Franklin were two of 317 student-athletes named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team.
