NMU Swimming and Diving to Compete at NCAA Championships

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Seven members of the Northern Michigan University swimming and diving team will compete in the NCAA  Division II Swimming and Diving Championships March 12-17 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

NMU enters the championships after a third place finish at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Wildcats are ranked No. 14 in the nation in the latest NCAA Division II swimming and diving rankings.

Representing the Wildcats are: sophomore Crystal Bennet (400 freestyle relay), freshman Rachel Borchardt (1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle), junior Emily Bourguignon (400 freestyle relay), junior Tara Dowling (400 freestyle relay), junior Molly Kearney (diving), junior Debbi Lawrence (50 freestyle, 100 fly, 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay) and junior Madisen Sechena (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke).

The Championships begin with the diving qualifiers on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The rest of the events begin with trials at 10:30 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Wednesday and continue each day through Saturday.
