    ROMEOVILLE, Ill.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Soccer freshman midfielder Caroline Halonen (Hartland, Michigan) has been named to the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Region Second Team. The D2CCA all-region teams are nominated and selected by the region's sports information directors.

    MARQUETTE, Mich.—A pair of Northern Michigan University Women’s student-athletes were named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams the league office announced Thursday afternoon. Freshman forward Caroline Halonen (Hartland, Michigan) received second team honors, while junior defender Gaelin Hirabayashi (Ijamsville, Michigan) was named honorable mention.

The features are due to be released approximately every two weeks in accordance with the corresponding athletic seasons. Each feature will touch on student-athletes and their interesting and unique journeys at Northern Michigan University.

    MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Soccer (4-8-2, 1-5-0 GLIAC) will finish the 2018 season with a three-match road trip beginning this weekend. The Wildcats start the trip at Ashland University (8-2-4, 3-1-2 GLIAC) with Friday’s kick-off set for 5 p.m. On Sunday, NMU will travel to Saginaw Valley State University (10-2-2, 4-1-1 GLIAC) for a noon match. The final contest of the season will take place October 26 at Michigan Technological University (7-5-1, 2-4-0 GLIAC).

Friday’s match with the rangers will begin at 1 p.m., with kick-off on Sunday set for noon.

    ALLENDALE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Soccer (4-6-2, 1-3-0 GLIAC) held No. 2 Grand Valley State University (12-0-1, 4-0-0 GLIAC) to a single goal, but the Wildcats dropped the match, 1-0. Coming into the match, the Lakers had the second-best scoring offense in the country with more than four goals per match.

    CALEDONIA, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Soccer (4-5-2, 1-2-0 GLIAC) dropped a road match, 1-0, to Davenport University (4-5-0, 2-1-0 GLIAC) Sunday evening. The Wildcats began the match by controlling the tempo, but a DU score in the 66th-minute would seal a Panther victory.

    MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women’s Soccer (1-0-0, 0-0-0 GLIAC) topped St. Cloud State University (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NSIC) in their season opener by a score of 2-1. A late goal gave the Wildcats the advantage and the team’s first victory over SCSU since 2008.
