MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women's Soccer (0-4, 0-0 GLIAC) will host a pair of non-conference matches this weekend with Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents Saginaw Valley State University (3-1, 0-0 GLIAC) and Northwood University (2-2, 0-0 GLIAC). Friday's matchup with the Cardinals will begin at 1 p.m., with Sunday's Wildcats-Timberwolves game starting at 4 p.m.

Wildcats shutout at home: The Wildcats failed to score in either game of their home games over the past weekend. The team as shut out 2-0 in both games being outshot 26-7 in both games combined. In both, the game was locked in a scoreless tie late into the contest with Friday's game being tied until the 70th minute while Sunday's lasted 83 minutes.
Freshman scores lone goal: Freshman forward Jenna Halonen's (Howell, Michigan) goal was scored off of a deep entry pass from the senior defender Allyssa Milam (Williamston, Michigan) who recorded the assist. The goal marked the fourth time in six seasons that a freshman scored the first goal of the season for Wildcats.
Frontuto staying active: Freshman goalkeeper Brianna Frontuto (Luxemburg, Wisconsin) has played 331 of 360 minutes between the posts for NMU this season. Frontuto has faced 55 shots, making 20 saves in the process which is good enough for third in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference.
Basma enters her first year: NMU Head Coach Sonia Basma is in her first year at the helm of the Wildcats, currently with an 0-4 mark.
NMU versus Saginaw Valley St.: NMU is 14-9-1 all-time versus Saginaw Valley St. with their last win coming in 2014. Last season, the Wildcats defeated the Cardinals, 2-1 in overtime. The Wildcats currently have a two-match win streak in the series.
NMU versus Northwood: NMU owns a 12-9-3 mark all-time over Northwood with the last victory coming in 2013. A year ago, the Beavers shut out the Wildcats, 0-1.
