NMU Falls at McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. – Northern Michigan University Lacrosse visited McKendree University for their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road contest but fell to the Bearcats 22-3 Friday night.


Freshman Emily Renfrew (Okemos, Mich.) led the offense with two goals. Freshman Aleya Speas (Castle Rock, Colo.) added a goal as well. 

Sophomore Shannon Walus (Brighton, Mich.) and freshman Jessica Close (Stafford, Va.) finished with three ground balls each. Walus also added two caused turnovers.

Junior Graison Ringlever (Mattawan, Mich.) and sophomore Bianca Kinder (Haslett, Mich.) tallied two draw controls each.

Freshman goalkeeper Cam Stilson (Brighton, Mich.) finished with 13 saves.


The Bearcats started the game with ten-straight goals before the Wildcats place on into the back of the net. With 11:12 left in the half, Speas put the Wildcat on the board with her 14th goal of the year. 

At the 6:49 mark, Renfrew put in her 10th goal this season to answer another MCK goal to make the score 11-2. However, the hosts scored two more goals before the half to take lead 13-2 into the break.


The Bearcats extended their lead through the second half. With 2:44 left to play, Renfrew notched her second goal of the day. The MCK squad managed to pull ahead to win 22-3.


The Wildcats will now head to Maryville University to take on the first-year program looking for their first GLIAC win of the season.
