WHEELING, W. Va. — The Northern Michigan lacrosse team was downed, 15-5, by Wheeling Jesuit Saturday afternoon at Bishop Schmitt Field.
The Cardinals opened the scoring at 28:54, but Shelby Klotz responded for the Wildcats at 26:53 to tie the game at 1-1. The Cardinals then scored nine unanswered goals to make the score 10-1 at the end of the first half.
Angelica Bogden started the scoring in the second half, netting her third goal of the season to make the game 10-2. The Wildcats and the Cardinals traded goals the rest of the half.
Elizabeth Hales (4g-3a) led all players with seven points. Graison Ringlever led the Wildcats in scoring with two goals.
Brianna Bangle made a season-high 18 saves. Maire Austin's three saves and Renne Cline's two saves made a total of five for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals (3-6) led the Wildcats in shots, 39-13, and shots on goal, 33-10.
The Wildcats, now 1-5, will be back on the road Sunday, facing off against Notre Dame (Ohio) at 11 a.m.
