SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — The Northern Michigan lacrosse team fell to Shepherd, 16-9, Sunday afternoon at Ram Stadium.
The Rams came out to a strong in the first half, scoring five unanswered goals. The Wildcats broke through with 15:57 left in the half, with Graison Ringlever firing a shot past Casey Hickman.
The Wildcats then netted three unanswered goals from the 10:04 to 1:55 marks to make the score 6-4. The Rams scored two goals in the last minute to take an 8-4 lead heading into the second half.
In the second half, the Wildcats and the Rams traded goals. The Rams (1-6) secured their win by scoring the final three goals of the game.
Ringlever led all players with six goals. She tied Jordan Hanner, who scored six goals against Concordia-St. Paul on March 7, for the most goals scored by a Wildcat in a single game.
Ringlever also tied Ram Brooke Hunley for the game high with 10 shots. Blair Osgood also had a multi-goal effort, posting two.
Courtney Matthews led the Rams in points with six on four goals and two assists. She also took nine shots in the game.
Hickman made seven saves. Brianna Bangle stopped a season-high 14 shots.
The Wildcats, now 1-4 on the season, next face off against Wheeling Jesuit on March 25.
