BAY CITY, Mich. – Senior Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia) finished third to lead the Northern Michigan University Women's Golf at the Saginaw Valley State University Fall Invitational this weekend.
Els shot a round of 75 for the first day and followed it with a score of 76 on day two, giving her a total of 151.
Sophomore Gianna Gastrow (Hartland, Wis.) shot an 83 for her first round then went for a round of 79 for a final score of 162, placing her 30th. Right behind her, sophomore Abigail Boozer (Brea, Calif.) posted a score of 163 after rounds of 84 and 79 to put her in a tie for 31st.
Freshman Taylor Hakala (Milton, Wis.) was in 52nd place with scores of 93 and 92 for a final of 185 while freshman Tiffany Elo (Manistee, Mich.) placed 53rd with a final of 204, shooting rounds of 102 on both days.
As a team, the Wildcats placed seventh out of nine teams in the squads first competition of the season.
NMU will now enjoy a weekend off before heading to the Lady Bulldog Invitational on the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29.
