FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team finished fourth out of 15 teams, and second among eight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools, at the William Beall Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay.
Leading the Wildcats was junior Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia/Pro-Ed Academy). Els shot 78 on the first day and came back with a round of 75 on the second day to finish 12th with a final score of 153.
Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C./Penticton Secondary) was one stroke back at 154 and tied for 13th. Hewer opened with a 79 first round and finished with a 75 on her second round.
Giving NMU a third Top-20 finish was senior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D./T.F. Riggs). The senior posted rounds of 77 and 79 and tied for 19th with a final score of 156.
Freshman Abigail Boozer (Brea, Calif.) finished with a score of 161, posting a round of 81 on the first day and an 80 second round to end the Classic tied for 35th.
Senior Baylee Dunmire (Palmdale, Calif./Highland) rounded out the team score by finishing tied for 71st with rounds of 84 and 89 to finish at 173.
Senior Alyce Krumm (Plymouth, Mich./Canton) competed as an individual since teams are only allowed five participants. Krumm finished 83rd overall with rounds of 86 and 95 to finish with a score of 181.
The Wildcats will enjoy a week away from the links as they prepare for their final outing of the fall season on October 22 and October 23 at the Kohler Classic in Sheboygan, Wisconsin at the Irish Course.
