Women's Golf Takes Second at Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women's golf team accomplished a second-place finish out of nine teams at The Meadows Golf Course for the Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite.

Senior Haley Hewer (Penticton, B.C.) was the top finisher for the Wildcats, earning second, ending the weekend three over par for a final score of 147.

Junior Karissa Guthrie (Pierre, S.D.) tied for 12th with a score of 157, and sophomore Caro Els (Swakopmund, Namibia) tied for 16th with a final score of 158.

Senior Avery Rochester (Marquette, Mich.) also earned a spot in the top 20 finishing at 18th, with a 159.

Junior Alyce Krumm (Plymouth, Mich.) and junior Lillian Torres (Pleasant Prairie, Wisc.) were the final competitors for the Wildcats, earning scores of 165 and 176, respectively.

With a total score of 618, the Wildcats trailed behind the first-place Grand Valley State who finished with a score of 591. Ashland ranked third with a total of 631.

The team will next travel to Sheboygan, Wisc. October 23-24 to compete at the Kohler Collegiate Classic, played at Whistling Straights.
