MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Women's Basketball has set their 2019-20 season schedule.

The Wildcats open the season at Lewis University for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference versus Great Lakes Valley Conference Challenge taking place November 9-10.  The team will play Lewis and William and Jewell College. 

NMU then continues their start on the road as they head to Minnesota to take on Minnesota State University-Mankato on Thursday, Nov. 14 and University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday, November 16th.

NMU hosts their first game in the Berry Events Center on Saturday, November 23 and will take on St. Cloud State University then Concordia University, St. Paul on Sunday, November 24.

After Thanksgiving, the team heads to Drury University for the Drury University Thanksgiving Tournament, where the Wildcats will take on the host Panthers and Truman State University.

GLIAC action tips off with Northwood University in Marquette on Thursday December 5. They then host Saginaw Valley State University Saturday, December 7. NMU will visit rival Michigan Technological University December 15 for their final contest of 2019.

2020 gets started with a rematch against Ashland University on Thursday, January 2. Ashland has won the past four GLIAC Championships, but the Wildcats defeated the Eagles in the NCAA Tournament last season.  Wayne State University then comes to the Berry Events Center Saturday, January 4.

After a week away, NMU welcomes Ferris State University and Lake Superior State University. The January 16 matchup with FSU is a rematch of the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals. NMU will look to capture their 12th straight-win over the Lakers on January 18.

The next two weeks sees the Wildcats on the road before returning for home games with University of Wisconsin-Parkside February 6 and Purdue University Northwest February 8. The team then hits the road one more time.

On February 20, Grand Valley State University comes to the Berry Events Center, the site of their only GLIAC loss last season. NMU will take on Davenport University February 22. The season comes to a close Thursday, February 27 with rival Michigan Tech on Senior Night. 

The Wildcats are coming off an NCAA Regional Semifinal appearance and 23 wins, the most wins of the Troy Mattson era. The team will return First Team All-GLIAC honoree Lexi Smith (St. Germain, Wis.) and Second Team All-GLIAC selection Jessica Schultz (Mineral Point, Wis.) as they look to replace five seniors.
