MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Women's Basketball will add two more to the roster for the 2018-19 season as they welcome Andrea Perez and Cece Rapp to the team.
"Both Andrea and Cece will be expected to come to NMU and compete for playing time," Head Coach Troy Mattson said. Andrea is a very exciting and talented guard who will help in our backcourt. Cece has competed at the Division II level and will add a lot of length and, more importantly, toughness to our front line. Both players are a great addition to our women's basketball program."
Andrea Perez comes to NMU from Madrid, Spain where she is currently averaging 20.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game for her team, Rivas Parque Sureste. She helped guide the team to second place at the Madrid State U18 Championships and eighth place in the Spanish National U18 Championships. The 5'10 guard was the MVP of Wit Nacex 2018-U18 and had the opportunity to attend the NBA and FIBA Basketball Without Borders in Israel that features the 60 top male and female players across Europe that were born in the year 2000.
Cece Rapp is a 6'5 transfer from Division II Lindenwood University out of St. Charles, Mo. Originally from St. Charles, Illinois, Rapp played two seasons for the Lions. Starting 15 games in the 2015-16 season, she led the team and finished fourth in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association with 33 blocks. During her freshman season, she averaged 5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. The next season, Rapp averaged 4.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per outing and finished with a team-best 27 blocks.
The pair will join a team coming off their seventh-straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament appearance despite an injury-plagued season that featured at least 66 games lost due to injuries.
