Women's Swim & Dive Win Double Dual

MARQUETTE, MICH. -- Northern Michigan University's Women's Swim and Dive team hosted their first home meet of the season against St. Cloud State University and Northern State University . The women took the double dual meet, defeating St. Cloud State University 184-78, and Northern State University 207-49.

  STANDOUT SWIMMER

Sophomore Lena Soulas (London, England/Woodhouse College) led the women's team. Soulas took first in the 175-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:40.04.  Later on, she touched first in the 75-yard Freestyle with a time of 38.97. Soulas finished out the meet with the 125-yard Freestyle relay, along with sophomore Margaret Vaitkus (Munster, Ind./Munster High School), senior Regan Kilburn (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine), senior Samantha Dickie (Canton, Mich./Mercy), and sophomore Gabby Spajic (Sydney, Australia/De La Salle Catholic College Cronulla) with a winning time of 57.78.

  BREASTSTROKE BEST STROKE

Senior Dana Stroven (Howell, Mich./Hartland) had strong two races. Stroven took the 75-yard Breaststroke with a 49.94, and the 25-yard Breaststroke with a time of 14.16. Junior Rachel Helm (Newcastle, England/Burnside College) took two races as well, with a win in the 75-yard Backstroke (41.55), as well as the 125-yard Medley Relay along with teammates Kilburn, junior Madelyn Irelan (Owosso, Mich.), and Vaitkus.

  DIVING DELIGHT

Junior Jamie Kimble (Prior Lake, Minn. / Prior Lake) took the women's 1-meter Dive with a score of 214.74. Following her just by 5.1 points freshman Mary Grossman (Goshen, Ind. / Northridge), with 209.64. In the 3-meter Dive Grossman won with a score of 225.98 with second place being 15.22 points behind.

  INDIVIDUAL WINS

Taking first place in the 25-yard Backstroke was Kilburn, touching at 12.68 for her third win of the night. Another win came from Irelan, with an 11.82 in the 25-yard Butterfly sealing her first of two wins.

The women Saturday morning to take on SCSU and Northern State inside the PEIF Pool at 11 a.m.
