MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The Northern Michigan University Men's Swim & Dive team defeated St. Cloud State University 176-80 as they won all 12 races in the meet.
| STARTING ON TOP
The Wildcats started the meet by taking the 125-yard Medley Relay with the team of senior Renars Bundzis (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary School), senior Arnoldo Herrera (Heredia, Costa Rica/Saint Jude), junior Maks Kapustin (Minneapolis, Minn./Henry Sibley) and junior Lajos Budai (Kecskemet, Hungary/Bolyai Janos) clocking in at 55.29. The race consisted of 25-yards of the Backstroke, Breaststroke and the Butterfly for the first three legs with the anchor swimming a 50-yard Freestyle.
| SWEEPING THE 25'S
Senior Joshua Cosgrove (Bury, U.K./Bury College) swam in three 25-yard races and won all three. His meet started with a victory in the 25-yard Backstroke in a time of 11.41 seconds. He then captured the 25-yard Freestyle by touching in 9.95. He finished his portion of the meet with a 10.62 in the 25-yard Butterfly.
| HERRERA WINS TWO
In addition to helping the 125-yard Medley Relay to a win, Herrera also claimed two solo victories. In the 25-yard Breaststroke, the senior won with a time of 12.13. He then took victory with a time of 41.86 to win the 75-yard Breaststroke.
| GETTING VICTORY
Two additional swimmers won two individual races. Senior Grantas Dapkus (Kaunas, Lithuania/Kaunas Saule) won the 175-yard freestyle, 1:28.70, then won the 75-yard Freestyle in 34.38. Senior Ryan Leonard (South Wales, Australia/Toronto) claimed the 75-yard Butterfly and touched in 37.92 before winning the 125-yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:08.36.
Junior Lajos Budai (Kecskemet, Hungary/Bolyai Janos) gave the Wildcats a victory in the 75-yard Backstroke by clocking in at 36.80.
| FINISHING ON TOP
NMU made sure to finish the meet strong as they captured the final race of the day as well, the 125-yard freestyle relay. This race saw five members, junior Jonas Reinhold (Nienhagen, Germany/Holty Gymnasium-Celle), freshman Jon Busse (Stillwater, Minn.), Dapkus, Cosgrove and Budai touching first at 49.00.

The meet consisted of 14 events, with NMU dropping the diving events. The team returns to action Saturday morning as they host SCSU again at 11 a.m. inside the PEIF Pool.
