Women Set Records and Leads Calvin Invite After Day Two

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – On the second day of the Calvin Winter Invitational at Calvin College the Northern Michigan University Women's Swimming and Diving Team lead the meet with 998.5 points and set two school records as they've now won six of the 10 events. 

In the first race of tonight's final, Lena Soulas (London, England/Woodhouse College), junior Regan Kilburn (Muscatine, Iowa), Victoria Reese (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard South) and sophomore Rachel Helm (Newcastle upon Tyne, England/Burnside College) set a team record, tied a pool record and made an NCAA B-cut with a winning time of 1:34.07. 

Gabriella Spajic (New South Wales, Australia/De La Salle Catholic College Cronulla) then set a school and a pool record in the 200-yard butterfly to win in 2:02.27, beating her own record she set in the preliminaries this morning. 

Helm also captured first place in the 100-yard backstroke by clocking in at 55.09.  Kilburn took second in the race.

Soulas rounded out the evening's victories by winning in 1:50.62.

The Wildcats will return to action Saturday for the last day of competition. The day begins at 10 a.m. for the preliminary races and will conclude with the finals, starting at 6 p.m.
