MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Nordic Skiing head coach Sten Fjeldheim announced the 2018-19 schedule Tuesday, highlighted by a pair of events hosted by the Wildcats.
NMU will compete at 10 events over the course of the season, beginning with the NMU Open December 8 and 9. The Wildcats will also a Central Collegiate Ski Association event February 2 and 3. Both meets will take place in Ishpeming, Michigan at the Al Quaal Recreation Area.
The CCSA Championships are scheduled for February 16 and 17 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, while the NCAA Central Region Championships will take place February 23 and 24 in Houghton, Michigan. This year's NCAA Championships will be held in Stowe, Vermont at the Trapp Family Lodge and Stowe Mountain between March 6 and 9.
Other notable meets for the Wildcats include the U.S. Nationals in Craftsbury, Vermont January 3-8 and the U.S. Distance Nationals in Presque Isle, Main March 28-April 2.

In 2017-18, NMU earned four All-America honors including a national title for junior Ian Torchia (Rochester, Minnesota). Torchia was the top finisher in the 20-kilometer freestyle race to become the fourth male national champion in program history and the third in the past seven seasons. He was also an All-American in the 10-kilometer classic race along with freshman Kjetil Baanerud (Oslo, Norway) Senior Vivian Hett (Burnsville, Minnesota) was the lone female All-American, earning the honor in the 5-kilometer classic. The Wildcats took the team crowns at the CCSA Championships, while both teams swept the podiums at the NCAA Central Region Championships.
