BRIANCON, France -- Former Wildcats defenseman Ryan Black has signed with the Diables Rouges de Briançon (Briançon Red Devils) for the 2019-20 season as announced by the club Monday afternoon (August 12). The announcement comes after Black completed his career at Northern Michigan University having competed in 141 contests for the Green and Gold.
Most recently, Black skated in all but one contest during his senior year, scoring a goal and eight assists for nine points. Providing offensive skill as a defenseman, his Wildcat career came to an end having tallied 35 points (2-33-35).
"We are excited for Ryan and he will be a great addition for the Red Devils," Wildcats head coach Grant Potulny said. "He is a fierce competitor and his elite skating ability will give him a great opportunity for success in professional hockey."
Founded in 1934, the Red Devils continue to have great success in the Ligue Magnus. Their season gets underway September 13 against Chamonix as Black looks to add depth to their blue line.
