Wildcat Men's Basketball Downed by Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Northern Michigan men's basketball team was downed by Ohio Dominican, 74-62, Thursday night at Alumni Hall.

Will Carius ended the night with his third double-double, collecting 16 points and 11 boards. Naba Echols also came away with 16 points. Sam Taylor was the third Wildcat who collected double digit points with 10.

The Panthers opened the scoring with a jump-shot and three-pointer by Hasan Varence to build a 5-0 lead. Echols came back with his own three-pointer and a jump-shot from Carius tied the game.

The rest of the half saw similar play with Ohio Dominican and Northern Michigan tying five more times. With 32 seconds remaining in the first, Isaiah Johnson lifted the Wildcats to a 31-28 lead with a three-point shot.

Northern Michigan held onto its lead until the ninth minute of the second half when Sam Hickey sank a three-point shot to bring the score to 44-44.

The Wildcats regained the lead again right away with two free-throws from Carius. The second half was much like the first with two more ties in just over a minute.
